Best Prom Dress Colors for 2010

Prom will be here before you know it.  Picking the right color dress for prom night does not have to be as stressful as taking the SAT’s.  We recommend paying consideration to color trends and your skin tone.  This year, jewel tones are all over the runway, and fortunately these colors look great on all most all skin tones.

Best prom dress colors for 2010:

Fuchsia prom dresses – It’s electric! Ressurrecting the 80’s, but ohhh so today, all at the same time.

Violet prom dresses – This hue of purple is a classic beauty, great on any skin tone and it’s popping up at more and more red carpet events.

Peacock prom dresses – This shade of blue is sure to radiate on any skin tone.

Yellow prom dresses – From pale to deep sunshine,  yellow will be a very hot color for 2010.

Happy Shopping!

The Look for Less: Sequined Tops and Evening Jackets

In a tight economy, don’t sacrifice the holiday night life!  Instead of a dress, consider a sequined top or beaded jacket for your next social occasion.  We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again. Sequins are hot right now. Beaded jackets and evening tops can be 1/2 or 1/3 the price of an evening dress.  And separates are so much more versatile! By pairing with a different skirt, pant or jeans, separates can take on an entirely new look.

One tip - when shopping for separates, seek out a style that is anchored by black, whether it be the fabric, beading or embellishment.  A little bit of black will make it much easier to merchandise with a bottom and your shoes and accessories.

Sequins continue to be a big trend in fashion.  From a dinner out to the red carpet, starlets are getting photographed clad in sequin gowns and beaded dresses.  Pictured above: Alicia Keys, Ashley Tisdale and Vanessa Hudgens. What show stoppers!  We think this trend will continue to be big going into spring and prom 2010.
